Started off with a great drive to Orlando with Katie to meet up with her uncle Stephen who is touring with City and Colour. I met him two years ago when he was touring with the Decemberists and he is probably one of the nicest people I have ever met.

Get to the venue and Stephen takes us for Thai food. Had the BEST Pad Thai I have ever eaten. Then we get back to the venue, bypass the line (=]), got a few drinks, and watch the show. It was a whole new experience seeing a show seated, haha.

Lissie was AMAZING. If you have not heard of her, do yourself a favor. Has one of the best female voices I’ve ever heard and her little three piece band is phenomenal.

City and Colour…where to even begin. It was the first time they played in Florida so that was exciting. We were sitting next to Dallas’ Aunt and Uncle and chatted with them for a bit. I can’t even really describe how amazing they were…even to say they sounded exactly like there cd (which I love when that happens) is doing a disservice. So breathtakingly spectacular.

When the show was over we met back up with Stephen who took us onstage to meet the band. Everyone was so sweet. Then we headed backstage to the dressing room to hang out with everyone and have a few beers. It was just so chill and amazing I almost forgot that we were hanging out with one of my favorite bands.

This could be the best night of 2009.
